Hut 8 Corp. has announced a significant investment in West Feliciana Parish, committing roughly $16 million to enhance the water infrastructure needed for its River Bend AI data-center campus. This development highlights a crucial private-sector contribution to local utilities, with water improvements slated for completion and transfer to the parish in the latter half of 2026.

This major commitment was confirmed on May 19, 2026, when Biz New Orleans reported that Hut 8 reached an agreement to fund and construct a new well along with approximately eight miles of water main, alongside other system enhancements. The upgrades are essential for supporting the operation of the River Bend campus, a multifaceted development reportedly involving multi-billion dollar expenditures.

Hut 8’s involvement illustrates the intersection of data center development and local infrastructure advancement. Asher Genoot, Hut 8’s CEO, and West Feliciana Parish President Kenny Havard have been key figures in this process. They highlight the project’s significance in terms of regional construction activities and utility planning.

The water system enhancements provide a clear horizon for contractors and suppliers, presenting immediate opportunities in construction and material procurement. The projected timeline sets a concrete completion window, aligning market expectations and planning prospective engagements.

Positioned outside the typical New Orleans metro focus areas, the River Bend project marks one of the larger private data-center endeavors in Louisiana. With existing long-term contracted revenues and major leasing agreements, the facility’s development is a focal point for regional commercial real estate dynamics and utility partnerships.
