Martin Wine Cellar will finally return to its original Baronne Street location by Sept. 15, according to a report by Uptown Messenger.
Martin’s owner Cedric Martin disclosed the desired opening date Tuesday (Jan. 21) to the Delachaise Neighborhood Association. Martin also discussed some of the challenges he has faced redeveloping the store since Katrina.
David Y. Martin, Jr. founded Martin Wine Cellar in Uptown New Orleans in 1946. Mr. Martin went into business in a 15–foot long store and a back stock consisting of a single case of Canada Dry soda. After Katrina, Cedric Martin opened other Martin Wine Cellar locations: Metairie added in 1989, Mandeville added in 2005, and Baton Rouge and Magazine added in 2006.
