Martin Wine Cellar at 3827 Baronne Street will reopen next week, according to a report by Uptown Messenger.

The store has been closed since Katrina.  Earlier this year, owner Cedric Martin announced that renovations were under way, and that they would open in 2014.

True to his word, Martin told Uptown Messenger yesterday that construction is almost complete and that they would open in the very near future.

David Y. Martin, Jr. founded Martin Wine Cellar in Uptown New Orleans in 1946.  Mr. Martin went into business in a 15–foot long store and a back stock consisting of a single case of Canada Dry soda.  After Katrina, Cedric Martin opened other Martin Wine Cellar locations: Metairie added in 1989, Mandeville added in 2005, and Baton Rouge and Magazine added in 2006.
