The Fairmont New Orleans is set to reopen on November 2 as part of Kailas Companies’ redevelopment of the former Bank of New Orleans tower at 1010 Common St. This adaptive reuse project in the Central Business District will add 250 luxury rooms alongside meeting facilities and dining options.
Owners Kailas Companies have transformed the 31-story, 780,000-square-foot property into a mixed-use development, with the Fairmont occupying 17 floors. This hotel features over 19,000 square feet of meeting and event space, two ballrooms, and a rooftop pool. This redevelopment marks the second hotel phase to be completed, following the earlier launch of the Element hotel.
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, operated by Accor, managed the redesign with contributions from the Rockwell Group and Rozas Ward Architects. The culinary experience will be enhanced by a partnership with Emeril Lagasse’s restaurant group, including Delmonico Steakhouse and The Café by Emeril.
Located in the CBD, the new Fairmont addresses increased group demand and business travel, complementing existing offerings around Canal Street and the convention district. The opening emphasizes the flow of private capital into downtown conversions, making it significant for commercial real estate professionals.
The addition of Fairmont underscores a pivotal trend in adaptive reuse projects, providing a valuable case study for investors eyeing similar opportunities. With its comprehensive amenities and strategic partnerships, the Fairmont New Orleans is poised to impact the local hospitality and events market.
