A new construction, mixed-use development at 1581 Magazine Street in the Lower Garden District is taking shape. The developer, Felicity Property Company, has selected with Palmisano Contractors as the general contractor. It’s the third time they’ve worked together in the past few years.
Following the developments of the apartments at 516 Natchez and the complete transformation of The Saint Anna, Felicity selected Palmisano again. According to documents filed with the city, the construction contract for 1581 Magazine Street is approximately $9,200,000.
Architect Wayne Troyer of Studio WTA designed the 54,000 square foot, three story building of 36 one- and two-bedroom rental residences. The ground floor will feature two retail storefronts, a residence lounge, and residence parking behind. The sleek modern exterior is composed of an array of materials including Kolumba brick, stucco, aluminum storefront, Hardieplank lap siding, and glass curtainwall.
Construction commenced in the fall of 2015 and is expected to be complete in 12 months near the end of 2016. Artist renderings via Studio WTA.
