Massive Development in St. Tammany Moves Forward

The 848-acre development called Tamanend announced last week that it will break ground this year, a decade after it was approved.

The development, situated at Highway 434 and Interstate 12 in Lacombe near the Louisiana Heart Hospital, is owned by national firm Weyerhaeuser, which is the largest land owner in Louisiana.

Construction will start this year on the first 400 homes of over 1,348 total homes, which will cost between $230,000 and $260,000. Tamanend will also feature a town center with 430,000 square feet of commercial and office space. Beau Box Commercial Real Estate is the broker for the commercial real estate.

The project also features the Tamanend Innovation District, anchored by the Northshore Technical Community College’s Main Campus with
a focus on STEM, along with plans for other state-of-the-art facilities including the future St. Tammany Parish Emergency Operations Center (EOC), a planned 70,000-square-foot facility will be the center for all parish critical emergency service operations.
