New 3-Story B&B Planned For Lower Garden on Magazine [We’ve Got Renderings]

A local developer has filed plans with the Historic Districts Landmark Commission to build a new, three-story apartment building at 1600 Magazine Street, the site of the former “Dat’s Grocery” business.

The plans indicate that the 3-story building will feature five larger apartments, 5 parking spots, and will operate as a bed & breakfast or short term rental.  Developer Cornelius Payne purchased the building and received approval to demolish it (and did demolish it) last year.

The plans look great, and its certainly better than the eyesore and a crime magnet that Dat’s was for the neighborhood.
