Rouses Market has announced plans to open a full-service grocery store on Freret Street, at the site of the former Bloomin’ Deals Thrift Shop.
The proposed supermarket would include a 10,000 square foot grocery at 4645 Freret Street, and an additional 4,500-square-foot warehouse and office building next door at 4617-4619 Freret St. Plans call for demolishing those buildings to construct the new warehouse and office building, according to a letter recently sent to neighbors.
Rouses is requesting conditional uses to expand the existing building from 8,500 to 10,000 square feet, sell packaged liquor, and process foods at the property.
Rouses plans to hold its Neighborhood Participation Planning meeting on Nov. 7 at 5 p.m. at 4645 Freret St.
Rouses plans to open the store in June 2020. This would be the company’s 47th store.
