200-Unit Apartment Complex to Replace Capri Motel on Tulane Avenue

The Capri Motel’s new owners plan to replace it with a 200-unit apartment complex after they demolish it, according to our friends at Mid-City Messenger.

On Monday, architect Charles Ward presented the demolition request for 2424 Tulane Avenue to the Neighborhood Conservation District Advisory Committee.  At the meeting Ward told attendees that the owner planned to construct a 200-plus apartment development to serve employees working at the VA and the University Medical Center.

Lots of other happenings on Tulane Avenue recently, including Feil’s $5.6 million acquisition of land and buildings near the Capri, an $11 million street scape program underway that will add bike lanes, the demolition of an abandoned building  to make way for new retail, a new credit union office building going up, and a new public works building built by the City,
