These Are the 5 Finalists to Redevelop the World Trade Center

The selection committee created by the city to evaluate development proposals for the vacant World Trade Center has narrowed down the search for developers from 11 to 5.

The remaining groups have now been requested to submit a more detailed plan, including financing, for their respective proposals.

The five selected developers, in the order in which they were ranked by the committee, are:

Carpenter & Co. of Cambridge, Mass. and Woodward Interests LLC of New Orleans. Together, the group proposes a 350-room Four Seasons hotel and 40 apartments. The building would also feature a 250-space parking garage on floors four through 11. Architects include Cambridge Seven Associates and Trapolin-Peer Architects.

Investors include Paul Flower of Woodward Design+Build, Lee Jackson of Jackson Offshore Operators, Tulane University board vice chair Sherry Marcus Leventhal, Latter & Blum chairman and CEO Bob Merrick andPowerMoves.NOLA executive Earl Robinson.

2 Canal Redevelopment LLC (New Orleans) is made up of local hoteliers Darryl Berger, Joe Jaeger and Roger Ogden.  The group has proposed building a Hilton Conrad Hotel & Residences with 300 hotel rooms on 11 floors. The remaining floors would include 225 residential units. would include some one-, two- and three-bedroom suites. The upper floors would house about 225 residential units.

HRI Properties (New Orleans) proposed a 252-room Andaz hotel by Hyatt and 295 luxury apartments, plus commercial space.  Total development cost is estimated at $192 million, with completion slated for March 2017.

Two Canal Street Investors (Houston) has proposed a 318-room Hotel Alessandra with 240 apartments, a roughly $200 million project, plus a music lounge and restaurant.  The group is made up of Dallas-based Woodbine Development Corp. and New York based Monday Properties.

Oxford Capital Group LLC (Chicago)This group wants to do a 516-room Godfrey Hotel, 166 apartments,  and an adjacent retail-entertainment building.  The $254 million project also includes the McDonnel Group as the general contractor and Montgomery Roth Architecture and Interior Design as the architect.
