The ground-up, 7-story apartment building at 2424 Tulane Avenue has broken ground, with a scheduled completion date in 2019. The $40 million project of market-rate apartments is being built at the site of the former Capri Motel.

Developer Kevin Frischertz purchased the property in April 2016, and later demolished the former Capri Motel.

The project will feature 202 units, including 40 tw0-bedroom units and 162 one bed room units.  The building will also have a pool, fitness center, 205 parking spaces, and a second-floor terrace.  The space will also include 36 bicycle spaces.

Rozas Ward Architects is the architect and Gibbs is the general contractor.

There are lots of other happenings on Tulane Avenue recently, including Feil’s $5.6 million acquisition of land and buildings near the Capri, the recently completed $11 million street scape program, the demolition of an abandoned building  to make way for new retail, a new credit union office building going up, and a new public works building built by the City.
