Six Flags SiteNew Orleans’ Industrial Development Board on Tuesday (Jan. 14) opened the 150-acre former Six Flags amusement park site in eastern New Orleans to proposals from developers.

The former Jazzland and Six Flags site has been closed since Hurricane Katrina.

Last year, plans for the development of  a 400,000-square-foot outlet mall were scrapped after the $70 million redevelopment of the Riverwalk outlet mall was announced.  The developers chose in the last RFP, Provident Realty Advisors and DAG Development, said the market was not big enough for two outlet malls.

The IDB will evaluate the proposals according to the following criteria: developers’ experience and past performance, finances including a market analysis and liquidity, potential tax revenue and job creation, commitment to involving disadvantaged business participation, and the overall development concept including sustainable building practices.

The selection process will be open to the public and the committee will seek community input. The deadline for the proposals is Feb. 28.

For all you developers out there, you can check out the entire RFP here.
