The National Association of Realtors holds its annual NAR NXT conference at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in November, bringing more than 10,000 real estate professionals from around the world into New Orleans for a multi-day run. The event includes what organizers describe as the industry’s largest expo, with upwards of 200 exhibitors showing products, technology, and business services across the show floor.

The programming covers housing market trends, technology adoption, business development, marketing, leadership, and emerging industry tools. Reba McEntire will appear during a general session for a discussion on entrepreneurship, brand development, and adapting to shifting markets, a booking consistent with the keynote format large trade conferences use to drive attendance.

For the local market, the value sits in the room block and the spending rather than the sessions. Ten thousand attendees arriving for a multi-day conference generates concentrated demand across downtown and Warehouse District hotels during a period when the city is already running strong. New Orleans hotels posted a RevPAR increase of more than 20 percent during one October weekend this month, and the convention calendar is a significant part of what has driven hospitality investment past $1 billion this year.

The booking also fits a pattern of national real estate organizations choosing New Orleans for their flagship events. The National Apartment Association brought Apartmentalize to the same convention center in June, drawing more than 11,500 rental-housing professionals, over 100 educational sessions, and an expo with roughly 600 supplier companies. Two conferences of that scale in a single year puts the city in front of a substantial share of the national brokerage, development, and multifamily ownership community.

Beyond hotel nights, the spending disperses across caterers, logistics firms, audiovisual vendors, restaurants, and ground transportation. Short-term rental occupancy typically rises alongside hotel demand during events of this size, extending the effect into neighborhoods outside the central business district.

The conference arrives as the local market reads as stable rather than expanding. Residential listings across the ten-parish metro held essentially flat year over year, and commercial rents moved from $23 to $22 per square foot between the second quarters of 2025 and 2026. Putting 10,000 practitioners inside the convention center does not change those fundamentals, but it does place a large number of capital allocators and brokers in the city at a moment when several downtown assets are actively on the market.
