American Can Apartments Designs 2In 2013, the 268-unit American Can Company Apartments sold for $30.8 million.  Back in August, the new owner, Audubon Communities Management, actually filed plans for the new facelift (check out the pics).

Now, we know a little bit more about the design upgrade to the retail portion of the building, thanks to some info from the retail experts at Corporate Realty.

Audubon Communities Management plans to upgrade the ground-floor façade of the building to offer more visibility and easier access to the shops and restaurants in the roughly 20,000-square-foot retail area.

The designs include a raised pedestrian walkway, more visible signage and improved lighting, and the installation of a translucent metal mesh “scrim” structure that will run along the entire length of the raised walkway.

The roughly $1 million project is expected to be put out for bids by February and would be complete as early as May or June.

Current tenants include a PJs Coffee Shop, Mariposa Salon and Spa, Pearl Wine Co., an architectural firm and a branch of the New Orleans Public Library.  There will be a new 2,000 sf available as well as a 3,000-square-foot restaurant space.

Corporate Realty has the details.
