Bernhard, one of the largest privately-owned engineering, mechanical and electrical contractors in America, has announced that it will combine its New Orleans, Arkansas, and other offices to establish its national corporate headquarters in Jefferson Parish. The firm will be based in The Galleria, in Metairie, and will employ approximately 250 local team members, with expectations for continued job creation and growth.
Bernhard LLC, founded in 1919, is made up of four companies: Bernhard Energy, Bernhard MCC, E.P. Breaux and Bernhard TME. The company collectively has more than 2,000 employees across the U.S., with more than half of the workforce based in Louisiana.
GNO, Inc. estimates the 250 direct jobs in Bernhard’s new headquarters will help drive another 328 indirect and induced jobs in the energy and technology sectors, totaling more than $42 million in annual salaries and contributing nearly $60 million annually to the Greater New Orleans economy.
Bernhard LLC is one of several companies owned and operated individually by Bernhard Capital Partners Management LP, a private equity firm launched in Baton Rouge six years ago by former Shaw Group executive Jim Bernhard. The private equity firm has raised more than $2 billion in committed capital and co-investment since its inception in 2013. The worldwide portfolio companies of Bernhard Capital employ more than 18,000 people.
The Galleria is a 21 story, 470,000 square foot office building owned by The Feil Organization and managed by Corporate Realty. Current listings are asking $22-25 per square foot for leased office space at the building.
