Langenstein’s will open its third grocery store location in the New Orleans area as the anchor of a newly redeveloped shopping center inRiver Ridge at 122 Sauve Road.
Dorsey Development is the owner of the 47,000 square foot property, which will be called the Langenstein Center. Construction starts this month, with Langenstein’s taking up toughly 25,000 square feet in the center.
Langenstein’s was founded in 1922 and is still owned and operated by the family. The grocery first opened on Arabella Street in 1954 and added a second location in Old Metairie in 1994.
“We are excited to be a part of the River Ridge community and offer the same corner grocery store attention and atmosphere but on a bigger scale,” said Trey Lanaux, Langenstein’s Chief Operating Officer, in a prepared statement.
M2 Studio is the project architect.
Paul Dorsey of Dorsey Development is the developer. Dorsey has a ton of experience in shopping centers and retail, having developed several Dollar General’s, retail centers, and storage facilities throughout the area.
The Langenstein Center used to be known as the Trading Post Shopping Center. It had been vacant for several years before Dorsey purchased it in June 2014 for $2.6 million, according to Parish records.
