Last week, Marriott announced in a press release that they will be bringing their Moxy Hotel flag to New Orleans.
The first possible location will be at 744 St. Charles Avenue in the warehouse district. According to city records, developers are proposing an 8 story, 85 foot hotel at the location. Lenny Wormser with NAI Latter and Blum is representing the developers.
The developers are Barry and Lorraine Dinvaut of D-Barlo, LLC and Campo Architects is the architect. The Dinvaut’s bought the property in June for $2,000,000. Check out the full plans for the hotel here.
The second Moxy Hotel is planned for a conversion of the Quality Inn at 210 O’Keefe Avenue, which sold in November 2014 for $9,000,000 to Atlanta-based Noble Investment Group.
The Moxy brand is aimed at millennials. It was launched by Marriott and Ikea and was “designed to capture the rapidly emerging millennial traveler, the new brand combines contemporary stylish design, approachable service and, most importantly, an affordable price” according to the group’s website.
There has been more and more hotel activity in the warehouse district. Domain is building an Ace Hotel on Carondelet, a 138 room hotel is planned for Julia, and a $35 million Cambria Suites is moving forward at Tchoupitoulas.
