Retail Watch: Dick’s Sporting Goods opens in Slidell

Dick’s Sporting Goods opened Sunday (3/2) in Slidell at the Fremaux Town Center. The opening marks the chain’s seventh store in Louisiana and its 561st nationwide.

The new store will offer over 40 in-store services performed by DICK’S certified PROS in sports and outdoor specialties such as golf, bike, fishing and team sports.

The store celebrated its grand opening Sunday with various promotions, including a celebrity appearance by New Orleans running back Mark Ingram.

The development of Fremaux Town Center was originally conceived by Bayer Properties of Birmingham, Alabama as the Summit Fremaux. Announced in 2008, plans called for a $900 million retail-office-residential complex spanning 400 acres. Stirling Properties took over the project in September 2012.
