The old New Orleans Public Service Building (NOPSI) sold in February 2015 to a Connecticut real estate development shop for $11.6 million.

The purchasers, Building and Land Technology out of Connecticut, have partnered with Salamander Hotels & Resorts and Woodward Interests to develop the building in to a 217-room hotel with a restaurant, a rooftop pool and bar, and about 10,000 square feet of meeting space.   The redevelopment also includes the adjacent Dryades Building, which will be converted in to event space.

Salamander Hotels & Resorts will manage the property and Woodward Design + Build is the GC.  Construction costs alone are over $33 million.

Plans call for room sizes between 350 and 800 square feet, an extra penthouse floor for suites, spa, and a rooftop pool and bar. The hotel restaurant will be named Public Service, and will feature a raw bar and pizzas.

Constructed has started and the property is set to open in spring 2017.
