Ballard Brands, owner of PJ’s Coffee, has confirmed the acquisition of the former Starbucks location at 7700 Maple St. in Uptown New Orleans. The strategic purchase marks PJ’s Coffee’s return to this bustling corner, with plans for a full renovation and reopening slated for late August or fall 2026. The purchase price remains undisclosed.

Located at the busy intersection of Maple and Adams, the property spans a 1,689-square-foot building on a 3,756-square-foot lot. Ballard Brands intends to maintain key elements of the existing infrastructure while implementing interior renovations and making select exterior improvements. Executive VP of Franchise Development, Ryan Stansbury, stated that the company is currently in the construction-document phase.

Once completed, this site will become the fifth PJ’s in the Uptown area and join approximately 107 locations across Louisiana. With major exposure and off-street parking, this development is positioned to boost foot traffic and could potentially impact rental rates and tenant dynamics in the vicinity.

The move underscores confidence in the retail potential of Maple Street, especially given the area’s proximity to Tulane and Loyola universities, which generate significant foot traffic. Short-term construction activity is expected to be a boon for local contractors and service providers.

This project adds competitive pressure to the coffee and fast-casual market in the area, with PJ’s establishing a significant presence close to other established names. The community and local businesses eagerly await the opening, anticipating positive changes in the retail landscape.
