When New Orleans Pelicans owner Tom Benson bought the team in 2012, one of his first objectives was to provide the team with the NBA’s finest training and practice facility. His vision for a facility would give the players and coaches not only a first class facility for training and practice, but one that would help the team attract top talent. And he did just that.
The $10 million project boasts 45,322 square feet of state-of-the-art basketball amenities, including 2 full size courts, training rooms, locker room and players lounge, weight room, breakfast room and juice bar, meeting space, coach and management offices and meeting spaces. The facility also features coordinated slab depressions for a Robbins Bio-Cushion basketball court system, Hydroworx hot/cold tubs and installed acoustical baffles on the ceilings to control noise emanating from the court.
The Pelicans’ basketball facility is also located on the grounds of the New Orleans Saints Training Facility, the Pelicans Business Expansion and Saints Indoor Training Facility.
Woodward Design + Build was the architect and general contractor.
