The City OF New Orleans selected Bayou Phoenix, a team that has proposed a sports complex, an indoor and outdoor water park, a 200-room hotel, dining, retail, a logistics center and a “mega travel center” on the 227-acre property.
Bayou Phoenix is made up of a consortium between Thomas Tubre, vice president of general contracting firm TKTMJ, Troy Henry of Henry Consulting and Dallas-based developer Hillwood.
Hillwood sill serve as the master developer and primary financing parter for the Bayou Phoenix team.
The first phase of the project is proposed to be a logistics hub, with the other aspects of the proposal to follow in future phases.
The site has been vacant since Hurricane Katrina.
There have been numerous attempts to re-start development of the park since Katrina, with many proposals coming from a variety of developers, including a theme park, a Nickelodeon park, and more.
