Athena Real Estate Rolls Out Best-In-Class Maternity & Paternity Pay For Brokers

New Orleans-based brokerage firm Athena Real Estate has announced out a maternity and paternity pay policy for its agents, becoming the first and only brokerage in the greater New Orleans area to have such a policy.

Founded in 2017 by entrepreneurs Everett Fineran and Pete Tafaro, Athena has quickly grown from a two-man team to a robust group of over 20 highly skilled real estate agents.

Now, the firm is rolling out the only maternity and paternity policy for real estate agents in the greater New Orleans area in the form of a bonus.

“Athena’s agents are some of the top realtors in the New Orleans area who deserve to be treated as such, and we consider it an honor, not a burden, to pay a bonus to help out the new moms and dads on our team,” said Tafaro.

Fineran and Tafaro cited the “unfortunate state of affairs” in the real estate industry, where maternity and paternity pay is the rare exception, rather than the rule, as one of the chief reasons it adopted the policy.  “We recognize there is a gaping hole in our industry–and the U.S. at large–when it comes to maternity and paternity pay. Athena is doing its small part to fill that hole with our new maternity and paternity bonus pay policy, and we truly hope others will follow our lead,” said Fineran.
