Courtyard Brewery Approved For Outdoor Seating from City Planning

The Uptown Messenger reports that Courtyard Brewery, the “nanobrewery” in the Lower Garden District, received approval from the City Planning Commission for outdoor seating at its proposed location.

Louisiana law allows breweries to sell 10 percent of the beer they produce on premise. Courtyard Brewery will brew small batches of beer to sample on location in a small tap room at 1020 Erato Street.

The site will also feature a growler filling station, which will allow people to fill up large mugs of beer, seal them, and take them home for consumption at a later time.

Last week, the owners Scott Wood and Lindsay Hellwig presented their requests for outdoor seating and live music before the planning commission. The staff recommended approval of the brewery, but declined to endorse a special request for live music.

The City Planning commissioners voted unanimously to approve the project, including the outdoor seating (but no live music). The project now gets sent to the City Council for final approval.
