A group of local investors has acquired the former headquarters of The Times-Picayune on Howard Avenue for $3.5 million.
The group consists of developer Joe Jaeger, Mardi Gras World king Barry Kern, and real estate investor Arnold Kirschman.
The building at 3800 Howard Ave. has been vacant since earlier this year, when The Times-Picayune moved all printing operations to Alabama. Most of the facility, though, has been vacant for years, as the majority of the TP staff moved to Canal Place office tower or one of its buildings in Metairie.
The group plans to land bank the property, and has no stated plans for redevelopment.
The investors are a powerhouse of local real estate players.
Kirschman has holdings throughout the city, and is currently developing Faubourg Freret.
Kern has real estate investments and holdings throughout the region.
